Clarity™ Prostate System

Clarity™ Prostate System by Resonant is today’s most rapid IGRT solution for precise non-invasive guidance for prostate treatments, providing a robust and innovative solution to the problems of organ motion during the course of treatment and poor soft-tissue visualization on CT.

At the time of planning, Clarity™’s unique implicit registration enables automatic fusion of 3D ultrasound with planning CT, providing the physician better visualization of the target and organs at risk and distinguishing from surrounding tissues.

At the time of treatment, Achieve even greater confidence in your accuracy with Clarity™. Prostate System’s unique position verification features, including Beam’s Eye View which confirms the organ’s position in the treatment field from every angle.

Qados are very pleased to announce a new partnership with Agfa, to manage the sales and marketing of the Agfa CR system for use in radiotherapy for acquiring digital portal images.

With the advent of digital imaging, traditional film based imaging is being phased out leaving departments with no access to a film processor. CR imaging provides a solution to this problem and has been used in diagnostic imaging for some time. CR is now available for use during radiotherapy applications.

The system comprises of

- the CR25 digitiser

- dedicated CR plates and cassettes for low dose portal imaging

- dedicated CR plates and cassettes for high dose portal imaging

Though EPIDs are now widely installed there are cases when an appropriate portal image cannot be taken and a cassette-based system is required.

Please contact the QADOS sales office for more information.

QADOS Press release:

Accurate targeting of radiotherapy for breast cancer treatment

University of Cambridge and QADOS (a division of Cross Technologies PLC) license technology for ultrasound imaging

A revolutionary way of targeting breast cancer tumours has been developed by University of Cambridge scientists and QADOS (a division of Cross Technologies PLC), producers of radiotherapy and x-ray imaging equipment. An exclusive license has been signed by the two parties to use technology created at the University that improves radiotherapy planning in the treatment of breast cancer.

Stradwin system technology, developed by the Medical Imaging Group in the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering, uses cameras to track the motion of an ultrasound probe, leading to a three-dimensional model of the tumour site for radiotherapy planning. QADOS (a division of Cross Technologies PLC) is incorporating Stradwin technology with its own Osiris system to create ORPHEUS, a novel radiotherapy planning system that combines information from both laser surface scanning and three-dimensional ultrasonic imaging. The result is more accurate targeting of the tumour site, allowing reduced radiation doses with fewer side effects.

Dr Graham Treece, one of the members of the University’s Medical Imaging Group said: “As a team, we have spent many years developing a very high definition freehand three-dimensional ultrasound system. All of us are delighted to see this system being used in such a worthwhile application by Cross Technologies PLC.”

Geoff Spink CEO of Cross Technologies PLC said:

“We are excited to be able to combine our experience with external breast imaging with freehand 3D ultrasound to build a flexible product to improve breast radiotherapy planning. The initial response has been very encouraging and we have already accepted our first order for clinical evaluation at the prestigious Royal Marsden Hospital, Sutton, Surrey.”

Dr Malcolm Grimshaw , Cambridge Enterprise, said: “We are pleased with this exclusive license agreement between Cross Technologies and the University. The resulting new technology will build on the work of the Medical Imaging Group and provide a comprehensive tool for hospitals that will improve on the current Computed Tomography imaging used for radiotherapy planning.”

Product list:

a. InVivo dosimetry:

OMNIPRO - InViDos

Invivo Dosimetry

InViDos is a data management system which enables the user to collate all the diode measurements. It is a new concept in invivo dosimetry to improve treatment accuracy as

well as patient safety and verification. The verification computer can load InVidos software -which can access machine parameters and patient information -this simplifies In-vivo dosimetry for the busy radiographers!

In-Vivo Detectors Support

Advanced detector support system for 12

detectors to be suspended from the ceiling.

Direct Patient Dosimetry

DPD-12

PC based 12 channel system

• 12-channel (24 with 2 linked together) electrometer dose: 10 Gy dose/rate 0.3 - 20 Gy/min
• 25 pin D-sub connector
• Electrometer stays in Linac room, simplifying installation
• RS-232 interface
• Meets MDD 93/42 EEC
• Please note that the InVidos software can also drive the older DPD-510 system

b. Theraview: Electronic portal imaging for radiation therapy. Replace portal films with the real-time accuracy and tools available by digital imaging. By bringing radiotherapy images on-line, live, TheraView provides oncologists with a more precise and effective alternative to time-consuming and inconvenient conventional port films.
