Festive greetings CPD lovers. I am currently trying to wrestle a turkey into a bucket a la Nigella style. She promises a juicy result, but we will see. Apologies, I have been a very bad and neglectful blogger of late, but I have just been so busy at work.
I was on CHART (continuous hyper-fractionated accelerated radiotherapy) last week and wasn’t getting home till very late. Then I had an interview on Monday for the Practice Education Radiographer post at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, so I had much studying to do for that. Thankfully I got the job, not too sure of a start date yet, but I will let you know. I was also lucky enough last week to gain accreditation from the SCoR (Society and College of Radiographers) as a Practice Educator. So very busy but all very positive.
However, my question is this. Are there any more of you out there? Anyone who is an accredited practice educator for radiographers, and are there any radiographers in practice educator posts? If so I would love to hear from you, the SCoR are checking this out for me but at the moment I believe I am the only one in Scotland, I hope I am wrong I need like-minded people to seek advice from.
Anyway back to the turkey wresting, hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and the big man in the red suit is kind to you all, best wishes Lorraine

Hello, my name is Lorraine and I am a therapy radiographer at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. I am the Union Learning Rep for the Society of Radiographers and run a series of CPD workshops for the radiographers in Glasgow. We cover lots of different topics and invite guest speakers to share their knowledge with us. I will post details of these soon.
I won’t be writing much more tonight as I am on strike today and would like to say a big thank you to all my fellow radiographers who stood freezing on picket lines today and took part in the march and rally to protect our pensions, well done Glasgow!

Welcome to the new CPD blog site.
I hope that this new site will lead to lots of networking and many interesting and productive discussions between like- minded health care professionals so that we can continue to work together to improve patient care within the field of radiotherapy.
I am very interested to hear about radiotherapy support services within other centres especially radiotherapy nursing services and clinics and how these fit into the whole radiotherapy pathway in supporting patients through radiotherapy treatment.
In the near future I will be uploading an award winning educational toolkit ‘ Managing Radiotherapy Induced Skin Reactions’ that I hope will prove useful. The aim of this educational toolkit is to support and assist health care professionals in assessing and managing radiotherapy skin reactions particularly in non-specialist centres where expertise may be limited and not readily available.
I would be very interested in hearing how skin reactions are managed in other centres as well as receiving comments and feedback on the toolkit.
Look forward to reading your comments and to many more stimulating discussions.
